Cedar Hollow Families,

Good afternoon! We had a great week at Cedar Hollow. I have included some highlights below, along with some important reminders as we continue this school year. Thank you so much for your understanding and support!

Upcoming Events:

  • Picture Day - September 11th

  • PTO Meeting - September 16th

  • PTO Tailgate Party - September 19th

  • Cedar Hollow Hustle (Fun Run) - October 3rd (preschool October 2nd)

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences - October 14th and 15th

  • Fall Parade/Party - October 31st

Cedar Circles:

On the first Friday of each month, students participate in Cedar Circles. Cedar Circles are a way for students to get to know other students and staff members from around the school. This is a great opportunity to build community at Cedar Hollow. Today, Cedar Circles met and got to know each other, and we discussed our focus for the month: Respect. It was great to hear the different ways students have demonstrated respect this week. We look forward to meeting throughout the year and strengthening our school community. Check out our social media page for Cedar Circles in action!

PTO:

The spiritwear store is up and running. It will stay open until Friday, September 19th. Get your Cedar Hollow gear and support the PTO! - https://cedarhollow2025.itemorder.com/shop/home/

The PTO will be hosting a Tailgate Party at the school on Friday, September 19th. The tailgate event will have games, food trucks, and more. Come enjoy a chance to get to know the Cedar Hollow Community! More details to follow!

School Breakfast Program:

We have had a few students take advantage of the new sack breakfast option at Cedar Hollow. If you have not done so, please fill out the survey. It will only take a minute of your time and will help us know which students are approved to eat breakfast, and we can plan accordingly. Reach out if you have any questions. - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScjHtdd_6Laahce8scknkae5DNtbuoW4bj6GSBHcuFFMOYrZQ/viewform?usp=header

School Attendance Matters

Every day in school counts, and we want your child here learning with us! When students miss school, they miss valuable instruction, class discussions, and hands-on activities that can’t always be “made up” later.

What is excessive absenteeism?

  • A student is considered excessively absent when they miss more than 10% of the school days so far.

  • By the end of the year, missing 17 or more days will be considered excessive.

Our goal is simple: have all students at school, on time, every day. Together, we can help your child build strong learning habits and stay on track for success!

Attendance Protocol:

This year, as a district, we are focusing on increasing overall student attendance.  Below, you will find the district's attendance protocol for the 2025-2026 school year.

  • 5 Days Absent (in a quarter) = Phone Call Home

  • 7 Days Absent = Attendance Letter

  • 10 Days Absent (in a quarter) = Phone Call Home

  • 15 Days Absent = Attendance Letter

  • 20 Days Absent = In Person Meeting & Attendance Plan

As always, we want to partner with you to make it a great year at Cedar Hollow. Please reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

I hope you can be outside and enjoy the cool weather this weekend. Have a great evening!

Mr. Runyon
